The Elephant Group was created by headteachers for headteachers with one simple aim: to provide students from non-selective state schools with opportunities, insights, and guidance to allow them to unlock the future that they deserve.
Our school partnerships are tailored to meet the unique needs of our schools and their students. We work together to:
Our Elephant Access Programme supports academically able students to explore and apply to top third universities. Aligned with Gatsby benchmarks 5 and 7 and Ofsted's personal development criteria, the programme provides valuable opportunities including:
“The Elephant Access Programmes opened my eyes to the benefits of attending a Russell Group university, and aspiring to attend a top university.”
– Year 13 student and successful PPE applicant to University of Sheffield
The Elephant Access Programme aims to identify and address the barriers to accessing top third universities that are faced by state school pupils from under-resourced backgrounds. We do this by carefully curating resources and experiences that are designed to give participants the same opportunities, levels of understanding, guidance and resources as their more privileged counterparts.
Showing young people what it means to attend a top university and how their university choice can impact future prospects and support social mobility.
Supporting students in making choices that will help them to achieve the grades that they need to achieve those aspirations.
Supporting students and teachers to navigate the often complex university application process.
A typical school is able to enrol approximately thirty “top third” students within each Elephant Access cohort. The impact of the programme often extends beyond years 12 and 13, with some schools launching their own mentoring programmes and many sixth forms reporting increased enrolment from students who specifically want to benefit from the Elephant Access Programme.
To become an Elephant Access Member with a standard cohort size costs £3,000 plus VAT for year 12 and £2,000 plus VAT for year 13. For smaller cohorts and schools that join part way through the year, fees can be reduced accordingly.
Our programmes do not make profit and we work hard to keep our prices as low as possible. If costs are a barrier to you, please contact us so that we can discuss other options.
If you would like to find out more about the programme and how we can work with your school, we would love to hear from you.
“For a long time, we’ve been concerned at the under representation of students from more disadvantaged backgrounds and this issue seems to have worsened since the pandemic. We were drawn to the work of The Elephant Group who hold similar values to our own, with a passion and commitment to increasing social mobility. Our Year 12 students joined the programme this September and have thoroughly enjoyed the opportunities provided to them so far. The workshops have increased their confidence and boosted their sense of aspiration. In addition, the staff involved in the programme have enjoyed working with like minded schools in a network that is giving them an insight into university admissions that will ultimately benefit our students.”

“Just wanted to thank you for leading on a great conference this week. It was so good for students to get the atmosphere if the campus at UAL and envisage themselves there. Furthermore, they have all fed back to me how inspired they were by Ezechi! Previous conferences have not had such a speaker as I recall, and it is so key for them to realise that they have the potential to achieve great things, connecting with someone who may have a similar background to them.
The reference writing session was also very useful”

“We just wanted to extend our thanks on behalf of the students, who all really enjoyed themselves yesterday. Joe, student ambassador from UCL, was great at chatting with our students about his course and the extra-curricular socieities he is a part of.
Hearing from Ezechi Britton was a wonderful experience for us all, and very inspiring. On a practical note, the training regarding reference writing was incredibly helpful - thank you for this."
