“The Elephant Access Programmes opened my eyes to the benefits of attending a Russell Group university, and aspiring to attend a top university.”

– Year 13 student and successful PPE applicant to University of Sheffield

The Elephant Access Programme aims to identify and address the barriers to accessing top third universities that are faced by state school pupils from under-resourced backgrounds. We do this by carefully curating resources and experiences that are designed to give participants the same opportunities, levels of understanding, guidance and resources as their more privileged counterparts.

What our partner schools and colleges say about us

“For a long time, we’ve been concerned at the under representation of students from more disadvantaged backgrounds and this issue seems to have worsened since the pandemic. We were drawn to the work of The Elephant Group who hold similar values to our own, with a passion and commitment to increasing social mobility. Our Year 12 students joined the programme this September and have thoroughly enjoyed the opportunities provided to them so far. The workshops have increased their confidence and boosted their sense of aspiration. In addition, the staff involved in the programme have enjoyed working with like minded schools in a network that is giving them an insight into university admissions that will ultimately benefit our students.”

Phil Latham

Headteacher, Macmillan Academy

“Just wanted to thank you for leading on a great conference this week. It was so good for students to get the atmosphere if the campus at UAL and envisage themselves there. Furthermore, they have all fed back to me how inspired they were by Ezechi! Previous conferences have not had such a speaker as I recall, and it is so key for them to realise that they have the potential to achieve great things, connecting with someone who may have a similar background to them.

The reference writing session was also very useful”

Fiona Lucas

Charter North Academy

“We just wanted to extend our thanks on behalf of the students, who all really enjoyed themselves yesterday. Joe, student ambassador from UCL, was great at chatting with our students about his course and the extra-curricular socieities he is a part of.

Hearing from Ezechi Britton was a wonderful experience for us all, and very inspiring. On a practical note, the training regarding reference writing was incredibly helpful - thank you for this."
