Where a young person lives, the school they attend, and their individual circumstances still shape what they achieve and where they go next.
Educational inequality starts early and compounds over time. Too many disadvantaged students lack equal access to the skills, confidence, connections, opportunities, and support they need to achieve their potential.
That’s what we’re here to change.
"Educational inequality remains one of the most significant drivers of social immobility in the UK. Where you go to school still determines where you end up in life." — Sutton Trust, Social Mobility and Higher Education
We believe that every young person deserves the opportunity to reach their potential. Our programmes support the three core vectors of success: Aspiration, Attainment, and Application.
Realising potential
Young people should have the attainment, skills, knowledge and confidence they need to take their next best step, with their opportunities shaped by their potential, not their circumstances.
Opening up opportunity
Greater equality in attainment, progression, skills and experiences gives more young people the opportunity to succeed in further education, higher education and employment.
Unlocking talent
When opportunity is more equally distributed, universities, employers and communities benefit from a broader range of talent, perspectives and potential, making them stronger and more representative.
Educational inequality is complex, so we apply a bespoke, collaborative approach. We work with schools, universities, employers and charities to improve attainment, build skills and open opportunities in education and employment.
Supporting young people
We deliver high-quality, subsidised programmes that build the attainment, skills, knowledge and confidence young people need to take their next best step, whether that is further education, higher education, training or employment.
Strengthening the organisations around them
We build knowledge and capacity within schools, universities and other partners through training, resources and shared learning, strengthening their ability to develop young people’s academic, personal and employability skills beyond our direct involvement.
Connecting education and employment
We bring together schools, universities, employers, charities and young people to understand local challenges, share expertise and co-create solutions that strengthen pathways through education and into employment.
Student success depends upon cross-sector collaboration. We bring together schools, universities, employers and funders to deliver support and interventions where they are needed: on the ground, in schools and universities, with students.
